Borescopes have turned out to be a priceless optical tool not only for industrial purposes, but also in the fields of medicine and education. However, it’s not just one kind of borescope that is used across all these areas. For instance, the borescopes used in industries for inspection are not the same as the ones used in the medical field. There are different types of borescopes that find use in different applications and it’s easy to find all kinds of borescopes on reputed portals like Fiberscope.NET. Here are the different kinds of borescopes commonly used in industries.

Rigid Borescope

This is the most common kind that finds use in a vast number of industries mainly due to its cost advantage. In this kind, an optical device is connected to a non-bendable tube. These tubes are available in different angles ranging from right angle to straight line and many other angles to meet the requirements of the users. They offer high quality image clarity.

Fiberscope

This variety uses a fiber optic image guide for transmitting an image to the relay lens from the objective lens. Users can view the image via an eyepiece or linked to an adapted and connected to a CCD camera for seeing real time video. The best part of fiberscopes when compared to rigid borescopes is that they are flexible and can find application in examinations where straight-line access is not possible.

Flexible Borescope

This kind of borescopes is not rigid. They use a twistable rod that connects the camera and the eyepiece. They can be used to look into curvy ducts, pipes, chimneys and also vents.

Videoscope

Videoscopes (or video borescopes) use a CMOS or CCD camera sensor situated at the borescope tip to generate an image that gets relayed to an LCD monitor. This works similar to fiberscope, but the only difference is that in videoscopes the light and micro video camera are situated at the insertion tube’s far end.

These are the most commonly used borescopes. While choosing one, it’s important to consider the specific application for which you are purchasing, quality of the device, and cost factor.
